De afgelopen maanden is veel van mijn tijd gaan zitten in het schrijven van een aantal hoofdstukken voor het Engelstalige boek Collaboration in the Cloud. Een samenwerking tussen Microsoft en Sogeti. Momenteel ligt het boek bij de drukken. Binnenkort via Amazon te verkrijgen. In zijn totaliteit heb ik vier hoofdstukken bijgedragen aan het boek. Waaronder het eerste hoofdstuk. Geinspireerd door een figuur (over de beursen) van Kevin Kelly schreef ik onderstaande paragrafen.

“It is September 15, 2008, Meltdown Monday. The world’s financial system has collapsed into a global crisis. Stock market indexes are dropping by double digits and stockholder value everywhere is disappearing instantaneously. Seemingly healthy companies are forced to ask for assistance. National governments in many almost every country have to jump in to prevent an even worse catastrophy. Panic and uncertainty are sweeping across the globe.

The world has faced financial crises before. Yet never before did a crisis have such a worldwide impact. How can this be? The day after Meltdown Monday, the New York Times featured an overview of the mayor stockmarkets across the globe. The surprising realization that jumps out of the graph is in the pattern the markets follow. The patterns are very similar. The stock markets in different countries are synchronised.”

Gisteren gaf medeauteur Clemens Reijnen een presentatie voor de Dutch-Information-Worker-User-Group over het boek. Zijn presentatie begon met de volgende sheets. Dit vond ik wel een heel gave manier om mijn twee paragrafen visueel vorm te geven.
